Detailed Confession of Faith
(Click on a footnote for scripture references below.)

  1. We believe in one omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent God; who eternally exists in three divine persons who are co-equal in nature and of one essence: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 1
  2. We believe in God the Father, almighty Maker of heaven and earth, and head of the three persons of the Trinity, from whom the Son and the Spirit proceed. 2
  3. We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, who is the only begotten Son of the Father; who having always proceeded from the Father, had no beginning in time; that all things were created through Him; in His incarnation and conception by the Holy Spirit, virgin birth, miracles and sinless life; that during His walk on earth and in His resurrection body, He was and is both fully God and fully man; in His vicarious and atoning death on the cross; in His burial and bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His future visible return to judge the living and the dead. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one can come to God the Father except through Him .3
  4. We believe in God the Holy Spirit, and that regeneration (new birth) by Him is essential for salvation; in His present ministry to convict men of sin, to enable the saved to live righteously, to grant spiritual gifts, to comfort, guide, counsel, and provide understanding of the scriptures. 4
  5. We believe that men are saved only by God’s undeserved grace through faith, and that this is the gift of God; that no man can achieve salvation by good works. However, obedience and repentance always accompany true salvation and are evidence that one is truly saved .5
  6. We believe that man was created perfect by God, but by his own choice and disobedience became a sinner. All of the descendents of Adam, being in him when he sinned, are disposed towards sin from birth, yet also sin by choice. In God’s sight, no man but Jesus has or ever can satisfy God’s demand of complete righteousness. Therefore we are made pure in the eyes of God only by being in Christ. 6
  7. We believe that human life and personhood begin at conception; that all human life is of great worth because man was created in the image of God, and because of God’s great love for us; and that the value of all human life in God’s sight may be appraised by considering that God did not withhold even the life of his dear Son to redeem us. 7
  8. We believe that the church universal is composed of all born-again believers (the saints) throughout the ages; that the church is the Bride of Christ, and that we, as members of His body, have fellowship and spiritual union with each other. The mission of the church is to know, love and obey our Lord, including carrying out the Great Commission by declaring Christ's atonement for sin and making disciples of converts. 8
  9. We believe in everlasting spiritual life; that it begins upon true saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, as John 5: 24 teaches: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” We also believe that the character of this eternal life and new nature of those who have received it is revealed by Jesus in John 10: 27-29, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give to them eternal life, and they shall never ever perish, and not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand.” (MKJV) 9
  10. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of unending life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. 10
  11. We believe that God will judge all men for the deeds done in the body; that all who reject Christ by embracing unrighteousness, by knowingly refusing faith in Him, or by continuing to live in sin after falsely professing faith in Him, will be condemned for their unbelief; that true believers will not be condemned, but will be judged for the purpose of determining eternal rewards. 11
  12. We believe that at the return of Christ He will renew the earth and rule over it; and that at the final consummation He will usher in an everlasting, glorious age in which the saints will know God face to face, and will never again experience pain, sorrow, sin or death. 12
  13. We believe that the Biblical canon consists of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament Scripture alone; that it was written wholly inspired by God, inerrant and infallible in the original text; and that God has actively preserved it through tens of thousands of surviving manuscripts and quotes, so that the original content may be determined with great accuracy. It should be our supreme written authority in all matters of faith and practice, and all teaching and prophecy may be accurately judged by it. 13
  14. We believe in the historicity of all events recorded in scripture, including the Genesis chapter one creation account; the special creation of Adam and Eve, who are the ancestors of all people; the literal fall and consequent divine curse on the creation; the worldwide flood; the origin of nations and different languages at the tower of Babel; and all of the miracles recorded in scripture. 14
  15. Although scripture is inerrant, individual human beings are not, so each of us must humbly recognize that it is possible to err, sometimes seriously, in comprehending it.  For this reason, we should be careful to interpret scripture according to "the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 1:3).  We believe that most of the basic doctrines of the faith have been passed down to us in the early ecumenical creeds of the Church, which were written to help us to avoid serious error in interpreting scripture. These are the Nicene Creed, the Apostle's Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon. 15
  16. Among his commands we hold to two ordinances commanded by Jesus: the Lord’s Supper, and water baptism by immersion .16

Our confession of faith is based on the scriptures, and patterned after the Early Creeds and The Five "Solas" of the Protestant Reformation.
